JDQ President Speaks at ASQ Innovation Conference
JDQ President, Jon Morris, has been invited to speak at the 4th Annual ASQ Innovation Conference on October 14-15, 2016 in San Diego, CA, sponsored by the ASQ Innovation Division and San Diego Section 0703. Morris will join a dynamic and diverse slate of keynote, workshop and session speakers to present the “Future of Collaborative Service Robots in the Quality Profession”. Jon will present his vision of QA collaborative service robots of the future, backed up by demonstrations of technical innovations that are already possible.
Since June 2015, Jon Morris has been the project lead for the 3SpheresTM Robotics Project, an innovative initiative to design and prototype a Collaborative Service Robot that will help people with developmental disabilities reach their personal goals and achieve greater independence, using existing and new technology, by June 30, 2018.
Over the last year, Jon’s research and development experiences have revealed a potential role for similar robot prototypes in the industrial environment, particularly in his area of expertise – the Quality Management System. The exponential pace of technical innovation has led many credible futurists to predict that machines will be as intelligent as humans in about 25 years and that job opportunities will change as a result. By analyzing the published Body of Knowledge criteria for many ASQ Certifications, Morris has discovered interesting patterns that predict the impact of technical innovation for Quality Professionals.
The conference will be held at Hologic, Inc in San Diego. Conference workshops will be held on Friday, October 14. Each half-day workshop covers a different aspect of innovation and quality, including navigating innovation and strategy, team dynamics of innovation, sustaining an innovation environment, and cognitive models that favor innovative thinking.
On Saturday, October 15, conference-goers will have many choices of topics and speakers in three topic areas: Tools of Innovation, Leading Innovation, and Creating Value. In these sessions, participants will hear from experts who will share their knowledge on subjects ranging from additive manufacturing and robots, to tools and methods for ensuring an environment for innovation, and bringing out the best in people for in innovation activities.
Registration fees are $300. Student and single day rates are also available – see the registration page link on the conference website: http://asq.org/innovation-group/About/innovation-conference
